Office hours

How it works

During and after each lecture — 1 hour. Both lecturers stay in the room. No booking, just show up. This is the fastest channel and the one most students should use: the material is fresh and you are already there.

Online, by appointment — Prof. Salvini only. Prof. Salvini takes online appointments; Prof. Arbia receives in person, after his lectures. Pick a slot on the booking page below and you get a video-call link back.

Working students. Prof. Salvini covers working students for both modules. Book an online slot and say you are a working student in the note — evening and off-hours slots are opened on request.

Book a slot

Book an online slot →

Pick any free slot on the booking page. You get a video-call link back by email, so there is nothing to install beforehand.

Before you book

A question with a script attached gets answered in five minutes. A question without one takes the whole slot. Bring:

  • the code that fails, as a file, not a screenshot
  • the exact error message, copied
  • what you expected to happen instead

For anything answerable in two lines — a date, an exam rule, where a dataset lives — check the schedule and the syllabus first, then email.

Marks are not discussed here

When a paper is marked, the feedback on Blackboard sets out in full why each answer scored what it did. That feedback is the explanation. Read it before booking anything.

A mark is not reopened after the fact, and office hours are not where one gets argued upwards. If, having read the feedback, something is still genuinely unclear, bring it and we will look at the paper together — that is a review, and it is worth having. It is not a negotiation, and booking a slot is not a step in one.
